Making the planting plan is one of my favourite parts of having a flower farm.
It lets you look towards the future and all of the possibilities.
My planting plan starts in a notebook and ends in my calendar on the wall. It also goes through a spreadsheet, map, and digital calendar.
Your planting plan should not look like mine when you are done.
You don’t have my farm, my microclimate, my soil. You don’t have my existing plants. You don’t have my resources. You don’t have all of my whys.
You don’t know what my specific goals are for this season.
It can be tempting to want to take someone else’s plan and use it for your own as a short cut. I would encourage you not to do that.
Not only will you not maximise your opportunity to test your own understandings, reasoning, and knowledge, but you could end up very far away from where you want to be.
Borrow ideas and inspiration and turn it to your own goals.
Reminder that next week I will be answering all of your questions about planting plans. Remember to send them to: hello@qcflower.farm
